Townsville, NC Donald Marion passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017.He was born July 16, 1940 in Butler, NJ to Adele and Martin Marion. He joined the Army in 1959, serving in the states and in Germany.Don worked at Sandoz Pharmaceuticals in NJ until joining his friend, Jerry Orr in their animal watering business.After visiting NC numerous times, he fell in love with Kerr Lake, moving to Townsville in 1979.Don was an artistic and creative person who could picture something in his mind and build it, such as the unique cedar boat “The Indian Princess”.He was an excellent stone mason as evidenced by the rock wall and stone shower in the cabin that he built and the wall and fireplace in the log home he passed away in.Don was also an avid gardener and a creative wood carver.One of his carvings was a wooden Indian which he gave to Willie Nelson and is in his museum today.Don will be remembered as a creative spirit who marched to his own beat.Surviving are his wife, Pat; his brother, Charlie, and wife, Joanne of Chicago; his daughter, Jessie and grandson, Ryan of Connecticut.Donations in his name can be made to Blue Horse Rescue, 25859 Hwy. 49, Chase City, VA 23924. Arrangements are by the Cremation Society of Virginia-Southside, Inc.
