Harold Dale Proctor

Ringgold, VA - The Rev. Harold Dale Proctor passed away on February 7, 2019, at the age of 79. Dale was born on February 14, 1939, in Decatur, Illinois, to the late Harold and Helen Proctor. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean Tench Proctor. Dale spent his life in the service of the Lord and to his country. He and his wife spent 34 years in ministry throughout Virginia anda retired in February 2000 from Sandy Creek Baptist Church. He served a total of 24 years in military service, 10 years in the Army where he was a combat engineer and deployed in support of the Vietnam War, and 14 years in the Virginia Army National Guard as a Chaplin. He retired from the military in 1993 in the rank of Major. He is survived by his three children, Debbie Alford and husband, Benny, of Danville, Va., Matt Proctor and wife, Stacy, of Providence, N.C., and Rebekah Schroeder and husband, Patrick of Las Vegas, NV; seven grandchildren, Katy, Corey, and Cody Alford, Elizabeth and Ethen Proctor, and Abigail and Lacee Schroeder; one brother, Dean Proctor and wife, Sue, of Argenta, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday, February 15, 2019, from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Lakewood Community Church, in Ringgold, Va. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 16, 2019, 11 a.m. at Lakewood Community Church. The family will receive friends at his home, 820 Sandy Bottom Road Ringgold, Va. at other times.
