Harry Samuel Wertz

Harry S. Wertz of Bullock, NC, formerly of Williamsport, PA passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 12, 2015.Born May 16, 1924 in Montgomery, PA, he was the son of the late Howard and Laura Wertz.Harry was an avid fisherman and a professional painter by trade.He was blessed with many friends. He was a member of the American Legion, the 40 & 8 Club, VFW Post 1, all of Williamsport, and a member of the painter’s union.He was a Navy veteran, having served in World War II in the Philippines and Hawaii. He is survived by his companion of 56 years, Sadie Derr of Bullock, NC; his sons, Robert Wertz and wife Jodi of Middleburg, PA and Rodney Wertz of Myrtle Beach, SC.He is survived by his daughters Patricia Wertz of North East, MD, Bonnie Beamer and Pamela Bradley of Williamsport, PA; step-daughter Patricia Beamer and husband Butch of Bullock, NC.Harry is further survived by 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary Wertz; one sister, Eva Miller; two brothers, Franklin and Robert Wertz; and a granddaughter, Cathy Jo Green. In keeping with his wishes there will be no funeral or visitation.
