James Nelson Abers

Chase City, VA - James Nelson Abers, husband of Grace Pritchard Abers, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the age of 79.He was born on February 18, 1937 in Mississippi to the late Nellie Mosley and the late James Leon Ward.Mr. Abers served his country for more than 20 years in the U.S. Navy.More recently, he was a fishing guide on Buggs Island Lake.In addition to his wife, James Abers is survived by a daughter, Julia Diane Abers and a son, James Randolph Abers and his wife, Teresa; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial service for James Nelson Abers will be held on Monday, November 28, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Avenue, Clarksville, VA.
