Martha C. Isley, 48, passed away peacefully at home after a lengthy battle with cancer.She was born in Richmond, VA, then moved to Wake County at a young age.She and her family have resided in northern Granville County for the last 22 years.She was the daughter of Thomas E. Cowherd, Jr. and the late Eva Adams Cowherd of Raleigh.Martha attended Elon College and graduated with a degree in Sports Medicine.Before being medically retired she worked for the Granville County school system as a Tech Lab instructor.Martha was an avid horsewoman, competing, breeding and training horses.There will be a celebration of her life held at Stovall United Methodist Church on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 2PM, with the The Reverend John Yount officiating.The family will receive visitors after the service in the church’s fellowship hall.Martha’s ashes will be scattered at a later date.Surviving her are her husband of 22 years, Steven Jacob “Jake” Isley, her son, Jacob Branson Isley, of the home, her brother Stephen A. Cowherd (Tracy) of Conyers, Georgia, and a special uncle WC (Bill) Adams Jr. of Richmond, VA. In lieu of flowers, please give to a charity of your choice or help a person in need in her memory.
