Micheal Ellis Mccoid

Tarboro, NC - Mr. Micheal “Mike” Ellis McCoid, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at the age of 83. Mike left behind his loving wife, Cindy and his children Valerie, Kathryn, Richard and Kimberly as well as two ‘honorary’ daughters, Monika and Linda, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mike also had two children precede him in death – Micheal K and Pam. Mike was born in Lead, SD in February, 1936, to the late Wesley S. McCoid and Evelyn Cotter McCoid. Mr. McCoid served his country in the United States Army, as well as the U.S. Air Force, with a military career totally 10 years.Following the military, Mr. McCoid continued to serve his country with a long career as a U.S. Government civilian supporting the Department of Defense as a Contracting Officer. Mike was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Dodgers in baseball, the Redskins in football, and the Washington Capitols in hockey. He was a dog lover and believed a home included the pitter patter of dog feet. Mike was also an ardent crossword puzzle solver and a world traveler and he instilled the love of crosswords and travel in many of his children A Memorial Service will be held for Micheal Ellis McCoid on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Lakeside Lutheran Church at 2427 Eaton Ferry Rd. Littleton, NC 27850.Burial will follow the service in Lakeside Lutheran Church Cemetery.
