Walter Lee "Skippy" Tuck Jr.

November 2, 1949 — September 8, 2024

Walter Lee Tuck, Jr., affectionately known as "Skippy," passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. Born on November 2, 1949, to Walter Lee Tuck, Sr. and Virginia Louise Watson, He lived a life of passion and generosity.

Skippy retired from a 30-year career with Centel, Embarq, and later CenturyLink telecommunications. His last assignment took him to South Hill, Virginia, where he concluded a career defined by hard work and dedication.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 34 and a half years, Laraine Dempsey Tuck, his stepchildren: Tracy Phillips (Dale) of Roxboro, Scott Thompson (Jennifer) of Youngsville, and Chrissa Johnson (Robbie) of Durham. Skippy was also a proud grandfather to Haley Woods (Quinton) of Roxboro, Kirsten Hatt of Roxboro, and David M. Tuck of Roxboro.

An avid fan of NASCAR, the Duke Blue Devils, and the New York Jets, Skippy enjoyed watching the sports he loved and rooting for his favorite teams. He was a friend to all. Skippy never hesitated to help someone in need. He had a gift for storytelling, always eager to share tales of days gone by.

Skippy also held a special place in his heart for his faithful dog, Lulu Blue, who was a constant companion and a source of great comfort and joy.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor and remember him.

In Skippy’s memory, may we carry forward his spirit of generosity, love, and good humor. Rest in peace, Skippy.
