Wendell Ray Hodges of Brodnax, VA passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the age of 84.Ray is survived by his 3 children, Mark Ray Hodges, Denise Marcell Catoe and Sherry Hodges Haferbier; 6 grandchildren Justin Ray Huddleston, Joshua Ryan Huddleston, Heather Hodges, Hailey Hodges, Allison Cato and Travis Catoe; his 2 great grandchildren Leslie Caroline Huddleston and Jackson Blake Huddleston and his 3 brothers and sisters, Ruth H. Mathis, Ima H. Brown & Cecil R. Hodges.Ray is predeceased by his parents, Henry Alexander Hodges & Lucy Crutchfied Hodges. Ray was born in South Hill, VA.He later moved on to Maryland where he received a Bachelor's degree at the University of Maryland.He worked in Washington DC, where he owned and operated many convenient & grocery stores.He was an Army Veteran.He enjoyed helping people, being a member of the Lions Club, Shiner's, Mason's and the American Legion. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
