Victor Edward Fitchlee

Victor Edward Fitchlee, 95, of South Boston, Virginia, passed away on January 5, 2024. He was born in Royalton Center, NY on October 23, 1928, to the late Victor Allen Fitchlee and Beatrice Holmes Fitchlee.

Victor proudly served in the United States Army SIGC from 1950 to 1952.  After his military service, Victor embarked on a successful career at General Motors, retiring in 1987 after 37 years of dedicated service. He was known for his exceptional skills as a master woodworker, spending countless hours crafting beautiful furniture. Victor was also an avid golfer and took great pride in achieving a hole in one.

Victor was a devoted husband for 69.5 years to his beloved wife, Louise "Polly" Crenshaw Fitchlee, who survives him. He is also survived by his daughter, Mary Beth Fitchlee of Chandler, AZ, and his sons, Douglas Fitchlee (Cindy) of Lockport, NY, Gregory Fitchlee (Jane) of Butler, TN, and Jeffrey Fitchlee (Cindy) of Fredericktown, MO., and his sister, Delores Melville of Tequesta, FL.  He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Victor was preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie Fitchlee of Youngstown, OH, his brother, Everette Fitchlee (Ruth) of Lockport, NY, and his sister, Janet Behm (Harold) of Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Victor was a man of faith and was a member of Main Street Methodist Church and also worshipped at Beth Car Baptist Church. His dedication to his community extended beyond his religious affiliations.  He was a Mason for 71 years with the Gasport Lodge #787 F. & A. M.  Before relocating to South Boston, VA, Victor assisted his father in the creation and construction of the Victor Fitchlee Royalton Ravine Conservation Education Park in Gasport, NY.

The family will receive visitors at Halifax Country Club on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A private burial service will be held at a later date.

Victor Edward Fitchlee will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, his distinguished military service, and his passion for woodworking and golf. His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved him.
