William Frederick Halder Jr.

William F. (Rick) Halder Jr., age 69, of Boydton VA, formally of Chester VA, passed away peacefully with family by his side on November 1st 2024, after a brief illness. Rick was born September 17, 1955 to, and preceded in death by his father, William F. Halder Sr. (Wild Bill) and his mother, Bobbie Halder Crickenberger.

Rick worked for 28 years with The Hon Company before starting his own successful sign business, Vital Signs of Chester Inc. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement, living by the lake he loved so much.

Rick was incredibly creative and a talented artist. He was a good man, who was kind and generous. He loved spending time with his family and his many friends, especially singing karaoke, and telling stories full of laughter. Rick loved to be outside and had a special bond with nature, he was an avid hunter, fisherman, and a former Harley rider.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy; his sons, Bart Halder (Sonja) of Pendergrass, GA and Lukas Halder (Myssie) of Commerce, GA; his daughters, Shelly Huber (Todd) of Mechanicsville, VA and Sarah Stanley-Horne (Libby) of Kill Devil Hills, NC; his adored grandchildren, Cole Huber (Emerson), Caleb Huber, Campbell Huber, Addison Stanley, Hannah Halder, and Olivia Halder; a great-granddaughter, ToriAnn Huber; and so many extended family and friends that loved him. He will remain in our hearts forever.

There will be a celebration of life planned at a later date.
